About
Greetings and welcome to my website. I was born and raised in New York City. I studied art at the High School of Art & Design in Manhattan where I majored in advertising design and illustration. I took classes in a number of different areas, including oil painting, photography, packaging design, life drawing, and illustration to name a few. We were privileged to study under the best the industry had to offer. Many of my fellow students went on to achieve great accomplishments the art and design field. I went on to pursue other areas but never lost my love for art. Photography has been my passion for many years. In addition to my full time job, I had opportunites to do freelance photography on the side.
I relocated to Charlotte, NC in 2005 with my family and I enjoy living in the South. People are fascinating to watch. We all have shared experiences. We rush to work, we explore new communities, we hold hands with people we love, we delight as we watch our children explore the world, we shield ourselves from inclement weather, we champion the things we feel passionate about, we celebrate our cultural heritage, and we enjoy conversation over a delicious meal.
Elliot Erwitt, the great American documentary photographer once said of photography, “All the technique in the world doesn’t compensate for the inability to notice.” After recently picking up my camera again, here is my attempt to notice. I may or may not have been successful as I've tried to document the nuances of emotions people express in public, so I'll let you be the judge. The people I observe could be lost in thought, out for a stroll, or moving with purpose and intention, but it is my desire to freeze those moments in time.
It is my hope that my images capture, artistically and respectfully, the experiences of the people I see through my lens.
